Microcontroller based signal conditioning board for pressure sensor for water industry.

The design was required to be very compact, to run from less than 2mA with a demanding temperature co-efficient, resolution and EMC immunity specification. The circuit was designed as a platform to be laid out in various form factors compatible with various sensor types. Two different variants have been developed so far.

Hardware design was carried out by Standing Solutions Ltd. Software design, mechanical design, integration and testing carried out by the client.
Modular strobe light to run from current limited supply for security applications.

Designed for minimal cost in low - medium volume UK production.

Various NFC reader boards with built-in antenna for access control and other NFC applications.

Plus boards for add-on function such as Wifi, POE and others.

Rapid design updates during 2022-23 component shortage crisis to switch to ESP32 platform.

Hardware design and layout was carried out by Standing Solutions Ltd in close collaboration with the client over a number of iterations and product lines as the clients vision for the product evolved and market opportunities arose.

Other tasks for this client included organising prototyping, support for certification and support for introduction to manufacture. Introduction of change control and quality systems.

New challenges included antenna matching circuits for 13.56MHz coupling.

Off-line 1kW Power supply

On-site project to design and develop power supply system for audio amplifier product. A mains powered PSU with PFC, 1kW phase shift full bridge converter for audio, 200W flyback converter for auxiliary functions and battery charging.

Project comprised design and development of hardware, comprehensive design testing , preliminary EMC, design and build of production test equipment, documentation and support of initial manufacture.

Challenges included design and qualification of custom magnetics, thermal management, fault handling.
1kW Back-up power supply

On-site project to design and develop power supply system for audio amplifier product. A 1kW phase shift full bridge converter for audio running from 24V battery with battery charging control.

This was an optional companion board to the one described above.

Low power isolating DC to DC flyback PSU.

Especially wide input range, low noise, with demanding emissions requirements. Design, layout, prototype procurement and build, design testing by Standing Solutions Ltd. Integration testing and EMC testing by client

Rolling stock rail products.

A 10 month on-site contract, working with the clients in-house team on a suite of products for rail applications. Carrying out specification development, design, design testing and EMC testing. Products had to meet EN50155 and various subsidiary standards such as EN50121, EN50125 and NF F16-101.

Low cost power supply board for LED lighting on buses.

Specification and application usage developed by Standing Solutions in close collaboration with client. Designed, prototyped and tested - including emissions testing for E-Mark - by Standing Solutions Ltd. Thousands sold and in service.

12 channel digital signal level shifter.

Designed to be hand built by the client for integration into a test system. Design turned round in less than a week for under £200. Custom design does not have to be expensive!

On-site contract to develop an integrity monitoring system for 100V PA speaker cable networks used for safety announcements.

A line powered transponder board was designed to operate in conjunction with the clients existing monitoring equipment with up to 10 addressable units per line.

Project comprised design of hardware and microcontroller software, comprehensive design testing, preliminary EMC, design and build of production test equipment and support of initial manufacture.
LED matrix display sign for use on a taxi.

Product specification and design specifications developed by Standing Solutions in close collaboration with client. Firmware written by client. Circuit design, layout and design testing by Standing Solutions Ltd, again in close collaboration with client.
Evaluation of induction loop for use with hearing aids. Assessed for EMC, LVD, Radio Equipment Directive and conformance to product standards
Measurement interface for production test of 3 phase alternators. The board provides connections to load banks, measures current, voltage and frequency using an STM32 microcontroller.

Developed as a solution for a systems integrator who could not find a suitable product already available on the market.
